FATHER’S DAY 2018: 10 Things to Buy the Most Devoted Dog Dad

As another Father’s Day rolls around, you’re probably wondering what to buy this year. Socks? Cufflinks? A nice sensible shirt? Forget all that. We’ve put together a round-up of our top ten gifts for devoted dog dads – everything from superb stationery to this year’s must-have card game. Oh, and there’s even some dog-friendly takes on those good old Father’s Day classics.

1. DODGY DOGS CARD GAME BY JEAN JULLIEN

Celebrate the endearing naughtiness of badly behaved dogs, with this card game illustrated by Jean Jullien. The deck covers a wide spectrum of breeds, all drawn to maximise their doggie charms. Our favourite is the dachshund stealing – yep, that’s right – a string of sausages. Available from dodgy-dogs.com.

2. YEAR OF THE DOG TEE BY MAHARISHI

Pay homage to the Chinese zodiac (2018 is the Year of the Dog after all!) with this Maharishi top, which offers a distinctly doggie take on the classic white tee. Available from endclothing.com.

3. DOG POINT MARKERS BY MIDORI

Midori is THE Japanese stationery company, so it’s no surprise they’re behind this set of pooch-shaped page markers. There’s no risk of these breaking the bank, and each set comes with ten dogs to choose from. Available from Conranshop.co.uk.

4. CUSTOMISABLE SOCKS BY HOOPSWAGG

It wouldn’t be a StyleTails’ gift guide without at least one item for the thoroughly pet-crazy owner. Put a spin on the classic pair of socks by covering them in your dog’s face. You’ll never have to leave your pooch behind again. Available from etsy.com.

5. EGG CUP BY QUAL CERAMICS

Have breakfast with your favourite breed, when you buy this hand-painted ceramic egg cup. It borders on the unbearably twee, but is sure to be a hit with dedicated dog owners. Available from Amara.com.

6. PEBBLE-GRAIN LEATHER POUCH BY THOM BROWNE

Splash out on this sausage dog-patterned man purse, crafted in Italy from the finest leather. There’s a flamboyant touch on the inside, with the wallet unzipping to reveal its striped lining. Available from MrPorter.com.

7. WOODEN DOG BY VITRA

If a genuine piece of Vitra furniture is out of your price range, this wooden dog designed by Alexander Girard is a more affordable piece of classic design. It’s based on original pieces made by Girard for his Santa Fe home, and is inspired by his collection of folk art. Available from Heals.com.

8. CHOPPING BOARD BY ANNE BENTLEY

It’s all plants and pooches on this birch chopping board, designed by San Franscisco illustrator Anne Bentley. Making dinner won’t ever be boring again. Available from Maison Le Lou.

9. BEACH TOWEL BY TED BAKER

One for the Frenchie fans, this Ted Baker beach towel is exactly what you need to save your spot on the sand. Available from Amara.com

10. DOG SILK TIE BY SALVATORE FERRAGAMO

The tie is a tried-and-tested Father’s Day gift, although admittedly rather a boring one. Spice things up with this Ferragamo silk version, which only reveals its dotty dog pattern on a closer look. Available from ferragamo.com.
