Fancy living the high-life but don’t want to leave your beloved pooches at home? Well at The Milestone Hotel you can have the best of both worlds. Situated a bone’s throw from Kensington High Street and directly opposite Kensington Gardens, the enviable position ensures pampering a plenty for humans and pooches alike.
The rich history of The Milestone Hotel extends back to 1689 and was once home to Ambassadors and Barons – which is evident still in the stunning interior, replete with sumptuous wood-panelled lounges, opulent décor and of course not forgetting the specially monogrammed dog towels! The royal treatment was certainly given to us and our two dogs Kipper and Rudi with the staff making a real fuss of them and catering to their every need.
One of the stand out attractions of holidaying with your dog at The Milestone is the perfect location directly opposite beautiful Kensington Gardens as well as Hyde Park and The Serpentine boating lake just beyond. Perfect for letting the dogs run wild!
Each guest room at The Milestone is a work of art, with no two being the same – a grand statement of colour and style – adorned with fine fabrics, fresh flowers, antique furnishings, and rare artworks. We were placed in a Deluxe King room, with wonderful views overlooking Kensington Gardens.
Before we arrived at the hotel we were sent a Pet Preference form to fill out, which was a wonderful touch and ensured that we had everything we needed for our doggy stay, including beds, dog towels, a toy each, some food, bowls and most importantly (for the dogs anyway) a bag of treats each. The level of service for dogs is outstanding at The Milestone and they really take the stress and hassle out of having to bring everything with you for your stay. The room for us humans was wonderful too, with some hand-baked biscuits, a welcome drink and a huge comfy bed to ensure all were happy!
PET FRIENDLY PERKS
The Milestone Hotel really have perfected the art of ensuring that furry friends are made every bit as welcome as their owners – they even have dedicated Pet Concierges to ensure that pets’ needs are well and truly catered for. There is no additional charge for bringing pets and all of the added perks, such as treats, food and a dog bed in the room are included in your room charge – which makes a change from the hefty pet charge usually added on.
There are some services for an extra charge available should guests need them, such as dog walking, grooming and even an in-house pet menu to order via room service should the food already provided not meet your dogs’ exacting standards!
FOOD & DRINK
Whilst dogs aren’t officially allowed in the dining areas, the hotel staff are so helpful and accommodating that if the restaurant and bar isn’t too busy they will do what they can to let you dine with your dog. We were very kindly seated in the wonderful circular Oratory located next to main restaurant, with its ornate vaulted ceiling and wood panelling, which was perfect for us and our two dogs. The food was also fantastic, with hearty modern British dishes the perfect finale to a wonderful day walking the dogs in Kensington Gardens, especially the house special of Chicken and Ham Pie.
WHO SHOULD GO
Anyone who loves enjoying some stress-free luxury with their dogs. Shopping fans will also be delighted as The Milestone is only a couple of minutes walk from Kensington High Street with its fantastic shopping.
WHAT TO BRING
Really you just need to bring yourself and your dog (other than your human essentials of course). The Milestone really have it all covered, which is fantastic as it means that you don’t need to worry about carting dog beds and all the other doggy accoutrement around with you when staying here.
WHEN TO GO
Any time of year. It’s central London location means that there is plenty to do whether it is glorious sunshine or driving rain.
WHY WE LOVE IT
The level of service has yet to be rivalled from our experience. The warm welcome we received really put as at ease about staying in such a luxurious hotel with two dogs, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that we all had a fantastic stay.
KIPPER & RUDI’S VERDICT
“What the woof? This place is posh! At first we thought we might have the wrong address, but the Concierge made such a huge fuss of us that we soon realised we were in the right place. Anywhere that leaves a bundle of goodies for us in the room and has a pet room service menu wins our vote paws down.”
