Move over poodles, new Parisian brand, Meyou are all about creating beautiful, contemporary spaces for cats. Currently funding on Kickstarter, Meyou Founder Aude Sanchez, a feline-loving Parisian with a background in fashion and advertising, has teamed up with industrial designer Guillaume Gadenne to create the ultimate kitty crash pads.
Meyou combines organic, cocoon-like shapes with elegant, natural materials. The Cube and the The Ball feature a woven cotton sphere with comfy inner cushion and a fine wood or metal frame – the perfect place for your kitty to curl up, while The Bed uses felt and wood to create a raised cat bed, on which any feline would be smitten to snooze.
The name Meyou is celebration of the bond between felines and their humans. “I wanted a name that highlights the cohabitation between cats and owners, as well as the feeling of a cocoon. Guillaume, our designer suggested the name ‘Mayu’, which means cocoon in Japanese. Developing on it, it soon became Me you, you and me…and Meyou was born, says Aude.”
Meyou also embraces a socially conscious approach. “We are partnering with a Parisian organisation dedicated to rehabilitating persons with disabilities through work. We will use their work in our manufacturing, product assembly and stock management. Through Meyou, about ten people with disabilities will be employed and will become more independent every day.”
