OK, we admit it – we couldn’t resist! It was only a matter of time before we succumbed to the joy and hilarity that a pet in a Halloween costume brings. To celebrate this ghoulish and ghastly time of year, we’ve rounded up 10 of our favourite Halloween costumes for dogs, cats, guinea pigs and hedgehogs (yes, really!)
We should also say – that while some pets love dressing up, other don’t. So if your pet literally can’t stand any sort of clothing or adornment on them – please don’t torment them. Make sure you check out our tips below on dressing up pets so your Halloween doesn’t turn from fun night to fright night (in a bad way!).
1. DAISY CAT COSTUME
We’re not sure what will terrify your friends more – a hairless cat, or a hairless cat dressed as a daisy. Either way – this is a major Halloween look for your blooming beautiful pussy!
Available at etsy.com – £17.00
2. KOALA DOG COSTUME
What is it about dressing one animal up as another animal that is so amusing and satisfying? We don’t know, but this Koala costume is pretty hard to go past. Someone pass the Eucalyptus leaves…nom nom.

3. SUSHI GUINEA PIG COSTUME
Have you always felt that Guinea pigs got a raw deal when it came to Halloween costumes (ahem, sorry)? We can’t even with this one – too cute.
4. RODEO CAT COSTUME
Yeehawwww Grandma! Cats love nothing more than pretending to be a horse and riding around with small mice cowboys on their backs (fact not verified). If your cat fancy’s themselves as a bit of a John Wayne, this get-up is just the ticket!
Available at petco.com – US$9.99
5. GHOULISH GHOST
An oldie but a goodie – Maddie the Coonhound made this classic Halloween costume look super cool. Grab an old sheet, cut some holes in it, chase your dog around the house for half an hour, while scaring the neighbours – et voila!

6. CAT BUMBLE BEE COSTUME
Something sweet for your honey – we can’t get enough of this cat bumble costume. Winnie the Pooh ain’t got nothing on this cute kitty.
7. TACO DOG COSTUME
This one is making us feel a bit peckish. The hotdog’s been done to death so why not go Tex Mex style this Halloween and dress your dog up as a taco with a lashing of guacamole!
Available at petco.com – US$19.99
8. LION DOG COSTUME
This doesn’t ever resemble a lion but it’s so cute, we don’t really care! Have a go at creating your own with some soft felt if you’re feeling a bit handy with the needle and thread. The little lion paw covers are too much!
Available at etsy.com
9. SHARK HEDGEHOG COSTUME
Not only is dressing your Hedgehog up a ‘thing’, you can even buy ready made costumes for them like this little shark number! Reenact those famous scenes from jaws with this terrifyingly cute costume.
Available at etsy.com – £10.55
10. DOUGHNUT DOG COSTUME
Has your hound got a sweet tooth? Why not dress them in this amazing Doughnut get-up? Sandwich your dog between two sticky iced rings and whack a Dunkin Donuts cup on top for the finishing flourish. Extra sprinkles for us please!

TIPS FOR DRESSING YOUR PET UP SAFELY
- Make sure the costume fits properly, is comfortable and isn’t restricting your pet in any way
- Don’t use any materials for your pet’s costume that could be harmful – like small pieces that could be ingested or anything that could scratch or cut them
- Don’t dress your pet in anything that covers their eyes, nose or mouth as it may restrict their breathing
- Give your pet some time to walk around in their costume and get used to it
- If your pet hates wearing costumes – please don’t dress them up!
