We’re lucky enough to see lots of lovely designer objects for pets here at StyleTails, but every now and then we find something really exciting. The result of five years of development by new British brand Bark & Miao, the Padpod is an instantly iconic piece of pet furniture with major wow factor.
An homage to the modernist designs of the 1960’s, the Padpod combines sleek curvature with luxurious upholstery and a high-gloss finish for the ultimate in contemporary pet lounging.
The perfect size for cats and small dogs, pets love the cosy egg shape and elevated position of the Padpod. The fully upholstered interior makes for a stylishly insulated den, and with a choice of ultra comfortable memory foam or duck down cushion, pets won’t want to get out.
Made with pets in mind, the upholstery is pure wool Camira fabric, which is beautifully soft while being ultra durable and anti-bobble. The cushion cover can also be removed for easy dry cleaning.
The Padpod is created by Stuart Fraser and Simon White; Co-Founders of British startup brand Bark & Miao. The idea came to Stuart after a fruitless search for a modern cat bed. “My wife and I were looking for a stylish new pet bed for our rescue cat Betty. I specifically wanted a product that would seamlessly integrate with our décor. Despite searching high street and online stores, I couldn’t find anything suitable; this stimulated an idea as well as a challenge.”
Enlisting the help of his designer friend Simon White, the concept for the Padpod was born. “When Stuart described his pet bed idea I was amazed no one had thought of it before. We did some rough sketches. A week later we’d created a prototype made from papier mâché – and the journey began. For me the Padpod is a design statement that synchronises furniture and functional design. It will be a signature product for us.”
The Padpod comes in three chic shades including Newport Green, Aston Blue and Rockport pink.
