NEWS: Battersea’s Undateable Dogs & Cats are Looking for Love this Valentines Day

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home present their most ‘undateable’ pets this Valentines Day – could you give one of them the love they deserve, even if they are a bit smelly or grumpy?

Love is about tolerance. Tolerating your significant other’s bad jokes, their boot-cut corduroy trousers or maybe their smelly feet (eeeww). Love is about accepting a few flaws because ultimately, we’ve all got a bit of wrong’un in us and someone’s gotta have us!

That’s why we’re howling with approval at Battersea’s most undateable pets. Taking a cue from Channel 4’s heart-warming, if not slightly awkward program The Undateablesthe iconic London pet shelter presents their most undesirable dogs and cats that are looking for homes. Read their stories, shed a tear and please share with anyone you know who might be the perfect match for one of these motley crew.

Meenoi lo res

Meenoi is a six-year-old Bengal who is looking for an accepting acquaintance who loves the country.

“I may like to make my ‘mark’ but I’m a special girl that enjoys some attention and fuss. A stable or a country home sounds ideal to me because I have a ‘wee’ issue to deal with. I would like a space to call my own but I’m tired of being single. I know the right person is out there for me – I just hope you don’t mind the tinkle.”

Domino lo res

Eight-year-old Domino is looking for a quiet life with someone who enjoys the pace of the slow lane.

“I’m a sweet older chap but I’m also a big scaredy-cat and turn my tail at the first sign of love. I’m so nervous about meeting new people that I’m seeking a soul mate that can take things slow and accept me ‘spots’ and all. Once it’s just you and me you’ll see that I’m loving and affectionate – take a chance on me I’m sure you won’t regret it.”

Dorito is a one year old who is looking for a compassionate confidante to tame her temper.

“I’m as cute as they come but I’ve had a really rough time lately, being dumped in a box and left by the bins to fend for myself. This has made me one feisty lady with the personality to match. I’ve got a reputation for being independent and I might surprise you with my fiery and mischievous character. But once I’ve been won over, you’ll be rewarded with a lap cat for life.”

Ciara lo res

Mongrel Ciara is only two-years-old so she’s looking for an active family who can keep up with her.

“I dream about going on long romantic walks with that special someone, but the truth is I’ve never been on a single date – no-one is interested in me and I don’t know why. I’m looking for a long-term relationship and I’m a loving and affectionate girl. Could you be the one to secure me my first date?”

Bloom lo res

Beautiful Bloom is two-years-old so she’s looking for a special someone for lifelong companionship – preferably someone who loves food as much as she does.

“I’m a small cat with a big personality and will definitely keep my loved one on their toes. I’ve had a really tough life and because of this I have the odd mood swing, but don’t give up on me and you’ll see that I have an outstanding sense of humour and I’m a courageous girl full of character. My ideal partner is someone that’s out during the working day and loves my independent nature.”

Siberian husky Mister Tony is only nine-months-old and would love a confident companion who can handle a big boy.

“I really am as soft as I look and I’ll win you over with my loving and outgoing nature. I’m looking for a special someone that can put a bit of time into ‘us’ and give me the training I need. If you share your life with me, expect your vacuum cleaner to get a regular workout and we can make dates for regular grooming sessions. I’m affectionate with so much love to give – can you be the leader of my pack?”

For those who fancy cuddling a kitty and maybe even a human (if you’re lucky!), Battersea is hosting a ‘Feline Lonely‘ event this Valentine’s Day at their London cattery. From 5.30 – 7.30pm, cat lovers can find their purrrrrfect partner- feline or human and enjoy some drinks and nibbles too.
