In case you missed it this week (don’t worry, StyleTails would not miss an animal / fashion story of such colossal proportions), word on the street is that Karl Lagerfeld’s pampered puss, nine month old Siamese – ‘Choupette’ is having a Chanel bag made in her honour. New York Times fashion critic Cathy Horyn, tweeted earlier this week “I just saw the Choupette bag in the studio at Chanel. Knitted, soft. Name of Karl’s cat”.
I know. What should we do? Faint? OK. *collapses*
Choupette came to fame after a recent interview Lagerfeld (senior) gave with Women’s Wear Daily. When asked if he wanted to have children, he responded “I don’t want any children. A cat is already a lot to manage for me.” With very little prompting Lagerfeld then began to gush profusely about his his feline pride and joy.
“She is a famous beauty. She is nine months old. [Model] Baptiste [Giaconi] gave her to me for Christmas to watch for two weeks when he was away but then I refused to give her back. I thought she was too cute. She is like a kept woman. She has a strong personality. She has lunch and dinner with me on the table, with her own food. She doesn’t touch my food. She doesn’t want to eat on the floor. She sleeps under a pillow and she even knows how to use an iPad. She has two personal maids, for both night and day. She is beyond spoiled.”
No Kidding Karl.
Through her twitter account (with the help of her not one but two maids), Choupette has been entertaining the world like a true diva. My personal favourite so far was the picture she tweeted of her pet-icure: “Thank you all for ur pet-icure recs. I have chosen 2 test wat humans call “ombré” nails.”
Ombré. I know. (Might do well to brush up on her spelling though non?)
So, how do you all feel about a white, fluffy, spoiled handbag then?
We wait with baited (cat) breath…………..
